BSS MONDAY IDEA - DIFFUSERS AND DISTRESS MARKERS

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today, Sharon has asked me to show you some new product that she has on

order from her recent trip to CHA.

The Tim Holtz Embossing Diffuser Set # 1

Consists of three acrylic templates, a circle, a small oval and a large oval.

Each template has the circle or oval insert. When you use the template with an embossing folder

without the insert, your paper is embossed completely, leaving the shape blank on your paper.

When you use the shape insert alone with an embossing folder, just the shaped area is embossed.

Here are some examples:

This is the first card, closed. I used the small oval template with the swiss dot embossing folder.

Only the portion of the template with the oval hole is left unembossed.

This is a tri fold card, so I could show you how each of the templates in the package work.

On the second panel, I used the large oval template and a plaid Sizzix embossing folder.

Only the cut out oval is left blank. On the third panel, I used a cuttlebug embossing folder with the circle template. The stamp set used on this card is My Favorite Things, Fred Bear Gives Comfort.

Paper is Annalee from Prima. I used the Ranger sponge applicator to add Adirondack Ink, Meadow and Stonewashed to add color to the embossing. I colored with the new, Ranger Distress Markers, and used a Dove Blender to shade.

On this card, I used the circle cut out only, so that when you emboss using an embossing folder, only the circle is embossed. This is a Sizzix, stripped embossing folder. Stamp is from Inky Antics, B163. The inside sentiment is from Great Impressions. Colored with new Distress Markers pictured above, and used a Dove Blender to shade.

I used the small oval insert only with the Dotted Swiss embossing folder, so that only the oval is embossed. The butterfly is Stampendous, the inside sentiment is My Sentiments Exactly. Inside punched butterflies is EK Success Border punch. Colored with new Distress Markers and used the Dove Blender to shade.

I used the large oval insert only when I embossed on the gold mirror paper.

Only the large oval is embossed. The flower is from Outlines Rubber Stamp Co. I colored with new Distress Markers from Ranger pictured above. Sprayed the flower with Perfect Pearls Gold and water from a mini mister. The inside sentiment is from Penny Black.

These are fun to use and you can place the shape anywhere on your paper. So versatile.

New Stuff: Box 1

We are starting to get items Sharon ordered from the show. Today we've got new ribbons from Maya Arts. I love ribbon and there are some seriously cute ribbons that will be great on your spring cards and projects. It's hard to see some of the detail and texture, but we've got chevrons, ruffled edges, sheers, brocades and ombres.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - A VALENTINE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE RED

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today, I thought I would show you that a beautiful Valentine, DOES NOT have to be RED!

Started with a blue pearlescent card stock. My card measures 5 1/2x11.

Score at 51/2 and fold to a 5 1/2 inch square card. Score again at 2 3/4 inches on the front panel.

Fold from right to left to form a three panel card.

I decorated my card with the beautiful Cheery Lynn Heart to Heart Doily die. I used the inside on the front panel, the outside on the third panel (it's all one die). Papers are Graphic 45, Conservatory 6x6 inch pad.

Punched border on the front is by Martha Stewart. Heart stamp on front is

Lockhart Stamp Company.(2056)

The center panel has punched hearts and the same border punch across the top and bottom was used.

The sentiment is B-Line Design (HF209C)

Pearls added to front and third panel.

Think outside the box as far as color is concerned when you make up those

Valentines.

CHA Show Day 1

The show opened this morning and my first stop was one of my favorite places...May Arts! They had lots and lots of beautiful ribbons which will be filling our ribbon shelves.

I had some customer requests from these funny stamps from Flower Soft. Ordered!!!!

Loved these vintage mini notes from Petaloo. Watch for a class coming up in March using them.

I ordered lots of new 3-D images but this was one of my favorites. It comes with the embossed notecards.

So many new stamps images from La La Land Stamps...they are so cute!!!

Here's a project from a new Educator from Ranger...Dyan Reavley. She is from England. I had the opportunity to take a workshop from her and it was a blast. Besides being very talented she's a hoot! She does altered art journals, books and cool art. You will love her....hopefully she'll be in Buffalo sometime soon! Get ready to get really inky...but worth it!

BUFFALO STAMPS AND STUFF

Hi there, welcome to another BSS Monday Idea.

Actually, this week there are two great ideas!

A Library Pocket card

And Action Wobble Springs

First, we will talk about the Action Wobble Springs

This is a picture of my card, and where the Action Wobble Spring is placed. I had to cut it down

to make it fit behind the bears head, but it worked perfectly.

This is a close up of the Action Wobble Spring. It's a tiny vinyl spring. You attach one end to your project, and the other to the object that you want to Wobble. They have pull away strips to reveal adhesive, so really easy to apply. When you wiggle the card, you get a springy action, kinda like bobble head dolls. These are so much fun. Sharon has them on order at the request of several people that have been inquiring about them and should be in the store any day.

Action Wobbler

Colored with Copic Markers

This is the inside tag with optional gift card holder.

Instructions:

Start with a piece of cardstock 7"x 91/2 "

Score at 2 1/2" and 7" on the 9 1/2 inch length

Score at 6 1/4 inch on the 7" length at the bottom

Cut away on the 6 1/4 inch score on both sides

Fold up the middle flap on score line and cut the corners like

the picture above.

On the top of the pocket, score the center section only 1 3/4 inches from the top.

Cut away from both sides and across the score line as shown above.

Fold score lines for sides inward. Apply adhesive to the outer flap edge to close flaps.

Fold up bottom flap, apply adhesive.

This completes the pocket.

Tag is 6 1/8 inches x 4 1/4 inches with clipped corners and punched hole for ribbon.

Optional gift card holder is 4 3/4 inches by 3 3/4 inches

Score at 1 1/4 inches on either end of the 3 3/4 inch length

Using a small circle punch, punch half a circle in the top of the center section. OR, cut out

a half circle shape. See picture above

Place strong adhesive along one edge of the 3 3/4 inch length and

in the center section on the back of the holder. Fold the unglued section inward, fold

the glued section inward to create the gift card holder. Adhere the gift card holder

onto the tag, centering it at the bottom.

We have the new Copic colors, but they're going fast!

Valentine's Day is coming as is St.Patrick's Day and we've got a few displays ready with stamps, papers, embellishments, embossing folders, bling and, well you get the idea.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - TRIANGLE TREAT BOX

WELCOME TO THE MONDAY BUFFALO STAMPS AND STUFF IDEA.

Today's idea is a Triangle Treat Box.

This cute little treat box is made from blue green card stock. You can find the directions at

The Stamp is from Art Impressions (UMT1185), colored with Copic Markers.

The beautiful cut out heart is a die from Memory Box, La Rue Heart (98255)

I cut it from plain white card stock then inked it with clear ink and embossed it with

white sparkling embossing powder. The little tag sentiment is computer generated.

The sparkling heart is a punch. Filled the tiny treat box with a small bag of kisses for Valentines Day, and tied with a white satin bow.

Snowflakes - Martha Stewart punch, pearl centers, Mellissa Frances

Oval cut from Marvey Punch

Two packages of Swiss Miss hot chocolate.

This card with the inside box goes together pretty easily. Great for small gifts or even

gift cards. Punching the window is optional, but fun to see what is tucked inside.

This was a super quick card using this image from Unity Stamps. I just stamped it several times and layered it.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - CAROUSEL TOP CARD

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

The idea this week is to make a Carousel Top Card.

I wanted to make it appear as this beautiful stamp from Inkadinkado was under the canopy of a Carousel.

I colored with Copics. I used worn lipstick distress ink to come in from the edge, up to the image.

The base card is red glitter paper. For the carousel top, I cute a triangle that extended beyond

the 5 1/2 x 4 1/8 in card by 1/2 inch on either side. I used an EK Success scalloped border punch to punch along the bottom. Then score about 1/2 inch above the scalloped edge and fold down.

A circle punch was used to add the circle at the top. Bakers twine along the fold. Rhinestones along the scallops. The image is matted on silver glitter paper. The music paper is unknown source, but you could stamp any music stamp in red and make your own. The canopy paper is My Minds Eye.

Added a small piece of feather to the horse. After attaching the canopy, which I popped up, I trimmed the corners of the card off.

Cute card for a child's birthday. I think a Carousel brings out the kid in all of us. Because the top of the card extends beyond the card, it will fit into a 5x7 inch envelope.

DRESS FORM WITH WINGS EMBOSSING FOLDER

Hi, I told you I'd be back with another embossing folder card. Sorry so long since Monday, but busy week.

Here's a closeup of the emobossing folder, Dress Form with Wings, by Couture Creations.

Oh what fun this one is. It embosses the dress form and the two bottom corners.

I used Spun Sugar distress ink around the edges and on the dress form. I distressed the edges before applying the ink. Colored the pole with a dark brown pencil. I used a Gelly Roll clear sparkle pen to highlight the wire frame. Gold Stickles on the buttons and necklace and chain. The felt buttons are from my stash. The spool of gold thread is from a Sizzix die cut (Tim Holtz) and I added some gold thread and a stick pin. And, the best part for last, I added some beautiful fluffy white feathers over the wings, they just dance when you move the card! Mounted it on a patterned paper 5x7 inch card.

Inside sentiment is "Thanks "Sew" Much" by Stampabilities (QR1054).

BSS MONDAY IDEA - NEW EMBOSSING FOLDERS

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today's idea is a new embossing folder. Lots of new embossing folders in the store right now.

Embossing folders are a great way to make beautiful cards quickly.

Both of these cards were made from a new Snowflake border embossing folder by Crafts Too.

The center label is right in the embossing. The deer are a die from Memory Box.

The blue paper used in the embossing folder for this card is core'dinations.

It has a white core, so I lightly sanded the snowflake edges. I also ran a piece of plain

white card stock through the same embossing folder and cute out the center only and

glued it on over the blue paper.

For the second card, I ran a piece of red card stock through the same embossing folder.

I used a Pearlescent Poppy, Dew Drop Brilliance pad to lightly ink over the snowflakes, then embossed with clear embossing powder. Then distressed the edges with Fired Brick distress ink from Ranger. Added the deer in white, some snow from a DecoArt snow writer and white glitter. The sentiment is Hero Arts.

Two completely different looks from the one embossing folder.

I'm working on a card with a great new embossing folder of a dress form. Will post pictures

BSS MONDAY IDEA - FAUX BURNT EDGE TECHNIQUE

WELCOME TO THE BUFFALO STAMPS AND STUFF MONDAY IDEA.

Today's idea is to create a faux burnt edge. I used to burn the edges of wedding invitations and decoupage them to a decorative board and paint flowers as gifts for brides. The burnt edges were to make them look aged. I used a candle and had lots of burnt fingers along the way.

Pretty simple technique. Rip the paper toward you so it leaves ragged edges.

I used Frayed Burlap first, then Black Distress ink, just on the very edges, to achieve

the burnt edge look.

A bit of inspiration...

We set up the back table and filled it with tags done by Dimitra last year, samples done by Sue featured on the blog and new tags done with techniques Tim Holtz is doing this year. We also set out lots of the products Tim is featuring on his blog.

DIE CUT HEAVEN CONTINUED

I'm back with some other ideas for using the large Memory Box dies I used on the cards a couple of posts ago.

This is the label type die, folded in half. Stamp is Penny Black. The spiral shaped die is also Memory Box. Snowflake is a punch by Martha Stewart. Goodies in the bag, Chocolate covered popcorn.

This is also the label type die cut from Memory Box folded in half. Paper is Echo Park. I used distress in to sponge the edges, Ranger Festive Berries, limited edition for Christmas. Snowman is made using two heart punches and a small circle punch, ran through the paisley cuttlebug embossing folder.

This is the scalloped edged die folded in half.

The stamp is by . The flower embellishment is from BSS, by the yard.

Sentiment is from Inkadinkado. Goodies in the bag, White Trash, google it, there are many variations.

This is the label type die again, from Memory Box, folded in half. The paper is from BSS. The bird, branch, and the red corner piece are all dies from Memory Box. Goodies in the bag, peppermint sticks with white chocolate toppers.

This is the scalloped edged die cut by Memory Box, folded in half. The stamp and sentiment are from Darcies. Paper is SEI. Die cut frame is Spellbinders. Silver Ribbon. Goodies in bag, Peppermint sticks with white chocolate toppers.

This is the labels type die from Memory Box, folded in half lengthwise. The deer is a Sizzix die cut.

The spiral die is Memory Box with a snowflake punched from a Paper Shapers punch. Gold Ribbon around the deer's neck. Goodies in bag, peppermint sticks with dark chocolate toppers.

The last two items are cones made from a nine inch square of paper folded into a cone. I used decorative scissors to trim the top and right side of the square prior to folding. Hold the piece of paper like a diamond shape in front of you and bring the two side points together and keep folding until a cone is formed. I used a low heat glue gun for best and fastest seal.

Paper is from K and Co. Ornament die is Memory Box, with white glittered paper behind it.

Snowflake is Spellbinders with Stampendous Shabby Pink Embossing enamel.

Goodies in cone, Gingerbread boy cookies.

Paper is K & Co. The die cut is from Memory Box, Flowering Christmas Tree.(98195)

Goodies in cone, white trash.

I think that will do it for these die cuts. Hope you have enjoyed these samples the last

couple of weeks and you got at least one new idea for the holidays.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - ORNAMENT DIE CUT

Welcome to another Monday Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Idea.

This week's card idea, is the use of this ornament die cut from Memory Box. There are two die cuts, one for the solid part of the ornament and one for the cut out part. I didn't have the solid one, so I just cut out solid pieces to match the cut out ones.

I tapped Versafine watermark ink around the edge of the paper

and embossed with Powder Keg Sparkling Ice Embossing Powder

The die cut "Deck the Halls" is from Sizzix and came in a set including that die and

the Reindeer (657290). It's also cut with mirror gold paper.

I also wanted to share this card with you today. Do you love Santa Stamps. I have so many of them, but can't seem to get enough!

Isn't he fun! The stamp is from LaBlanche, and it's silicone on Foam and stamps

like a dream, Sharon assured me before I left the store with it that they stamped beautifully and she was right. I colored with Copic Markers and inked around the edges with wild honey and vintage photo distress inks. The deer (656923) and holly(657031) are Sizzix dies. The circle date stamp is

a clear stamp set, but I don't know what I did with the packaging, sorry.

Our Christmas Family

Our Christmas family this year is a religious family consisting of four small children under the age of 5. The father works, while the mother stays at home to care for the children. The family doesn’t want much; they are a proud family who are finding it hard to make it financially right now. They are also the kind of family that once they get through their tough times are willing to return the favor by helping others.

DIE CUT HEAVEN

Lots of beautiful die cuts from Memory Box in the store right now.

Here's a few card samples using those dies.

The large scalloped background is the actual die. This card is 5x7 inches and the

die covers most of the card. The paper is Bo Bunny (I think), Sharon will know!

Stamp is from Northwoods.

Here is another large die shape. Cut on Candy Cane Striped paper. This is also a 5x7 inch card, so you can see how large this die is. The tree and star garland are from the dollar store. The stamp is Penny Black. The stars are a Sizzix die (old)

The mitten was traced from a large foam stamp (you can also find coloring books with large images to trace.) The dies by Memory Box used on this gift tag are, Frosty Border 98171 and Bianca Snowflake, 98193. For these intricate stamps, if you place a piece of waxed paper over the die between the paper and the die each time, the pieces will fall right out.

The window, the bird, and the Woodland Branch 98187 are the dies used on this card.

Look at how detailed and fine cut the branch is, these dies cut like butter!!

I added acetate and some snow on the window with a snow writer. The window was sponged with the special edition holiday distress ink from Ranger, Iced Spruce.

There are lots more uses

for the large dies, and I will be showing you some of them

soon.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - HERO ARTS HOLLY STAMP AND SIZZIX MATCHING EMBOSSING FOLDER

WELCOME TO THE BUFFALO STAMPS AND STUFF MONDAY IDEA.

TODAY, WE ARE GOING TO LOOK AT THE RESULTS OF USING THE NEW HERO ARTS HOLLY STAMP AND MATCHING SIZZIX EMBOSSING FOLDER SET.

This is how I used this great set.

On the green paper. I stamped the holly/swirl stamp using Versafine watermark ink only, then embossed using clear embossing ink. I then ran it through the matching Sizzix embossing folder.

On the white card stock, I inked the stamp with Adirondack, Meadow green ink. I then used a small corner of a baby wipe to remove the green ink from the berries. Using a water based marker, I colored the berries with bright red. I then stamped and when the ink was dry, ran it through the matching Sizzix embossing folder.

On the inside of the card, I just inked the stamp with the same Meadow green ink.

Added a sentiment by Wordsworth on white card stock and sponged around the

edges with the same ink.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - THE COOKIE JAR

WELCOME TO THE MONDAY BUFFALO STAMPS AND STUFF IDEA.

Today's idea is a jar filled with gingerbread men (and women and children) with an adorable tag.

Always looking for a small gift for a teacher, or neighbor, etc. This one is great.

Just fill with something yummy, like cookies or candy, make a tag and decorate.

The tag is made with a stamp from Mark's Finest Papers, Ginger Cookies.

The little guy on the lid is from the same set. I colored with Copics.

I used Kraft and red gingham papers, twine and a wooden button.

The tag was cut with a Sizzix die. I purchased the glass jar at Hobby Lobby at

50% off! The cookies are Pepperidge Farm. I cut a piece of acetate to put over the

jar front on the tag to look like glass.

Fill a jar with some goodies for someone for Christmas, fun to decorate and always fun to

receive.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - CHRISTMAS STOCKING GIFT CARD/MONEY HOLDER

Today's idea is a Christmas Stocking Gift Card/Money Holder

Stocking Recipe

Stamps - Darcies Clear Stamp Set POL13 Santa Baby

Papers - My Mind's Eye (I Believe)

Gold Jingle bell and ribbon

Marvey punched scalloped oval

Border punch EK Success

Colored with Copic Markers

I added a loop of cardstock before gluing the front to the back.

I wrapped my gift card in foil wrapping paper, added a gold ribbon, and left the card peeking out of the stocking.

Right click on stocking, then click on Print Target

Instructions:

Cut out pattern for the stocking.

Cut two pieces of card stock from the pattern. You will need to cut them so they go together with the decorated side of the cardstock is on the outside

Lay the gift card on the inside center of the back piece of the stocking, gift card even with the top.

Trace the gift card in pencil.

Use a strong tape adhesive, run a line along both sides and the bottom of the traced lines.

This will prevent the gift card from going down into the stocking.

Glue the rest of the stocking back, and adhere the front to the back.

Round the corners on the top of the stocking.

Cut a strip of contrasting paper 8" x 2 1/2". Using a border punch, punch a border on the bottom of the strip.

Center the strip on the front of the stocking, fold at edges of stocking on either side to the back.

Before attaching, round the corners at the side folds.

Adhere to the top of the stocking.

Have fun decorating this fun gift card/Money holder.

You can put gift card/money right in the slot you created or leave it sticking out.

Despite the long step by step instructions, these go together fast with really cute results.

With the holidays only weeks away, these handy gift card holders could come in handy and can be decorated for anyone.

WELCOME TO MONDAY MORNING

AND THE BUFFALO STAMPS AND STUFF MONDAY IDEA.

Today's idea is to make some Christmas tags. Wow, can you believe that Halloween is over and Thanksgiving is only 17 days away......and Christmas will follow so quickly you won't even believe it!

So today, I thought we would make a Christmas Tag. The fun thing about tags is you can put some great embellishments on them because they don't have to be put on in an envelope to be mailed. Even if you're mailing your packages, a beautiful tag can be put on them!

My tag recipe:

BSS MONDAY IDEA - SIDE SPRING CARD

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today's idea is a Side Spring Card.

There is a great tutorial for this card at

Just a few score lines and folds and you can create this cute design.

I have to admit that I had trouble with the final fold at first, but there is a written tutorial and a video, so after watching the video twice, I easily finished the card up.

It also made a very tiny card, so I adjusted the measurements as follows:

Use a piece of card stock 6 x12 inches

score at 3" on the short side

turn and score at 3" and 4 1/2 inches on the long side

BSS MONDAY IDEA - ADD TEXTURE TO YOUR COPIC COLORED STAMPED IMAGES

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today's idea is to add some texture to your Copic colored stamped images.

I colored the pumpkins with Copic Markers, then went back in, using the clear blending marker, made dots on one, stripes on the other, and diagonal lines on the last. Just make the dots or lines and keep going over them until you get the desired effect. Kind of a cool way to add interest to a small stamp like this pumpkin.

One of our favorite artists, Cari Fennell will be joining us on Saturday, October 22 for two great classes. First, Cari will be doing a 2 page layout featuring Prima papers, flowers and embellishments. Check out the photos!

These photos don't do the layout justice, you really should come in and see for yourself! This class is running Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30. Cost is $25. Call and reserve your spot!

In the afternoon Cari will be doing a Christmas album with acrylic, chipboard and wonderful Prima embellishments. Here are a few photos to entice you...

BSS MONDAY IDEA - FALL WREATH

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea, a

Fall Wreath Card.

I made this card with the Tim Holtz Alterations die by Sizzix. It's 12 inches long and cuts

a lot of different Fall leaves, branches, acorns, etc. I ran it through with all different Fall colored papers then just cut a three inch circle with a circle die/or punch and cut the middle out. Then I just layered different pieces on the circle. I used a glue gun, as it sets up very quickly. The wreath went together pretty quickly and didn't take a lot of planning, just chose different shaped pieces and different colors as I went around the circle.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - THREE OVAL/CIRCLE PUMPKIN

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today's idea is to make a pumpkin from three scalloped circles or ovals.

All you do is die cut or punch three (3) scalloped circles or ovals. One is the front and the other two are glued to the top one at an angle. Make a stem from a piece of scrap green. I made the leaves with a Martha Stewart punch. The edges were sponged with orange distress ink.

The bear is part of a House Mouse Stamp and is a Gruffie (GR1038-Punkin' Head) The mouse dressed up like cheese is also a House Mouse Stamp (HMD1018). The Gingham circle was cut from a smaller die or punch. The bag pumpkin is made from ovals and the card pumpkin is made from circles. The bag and matching card are cute little gifts for your favorite "trick or treater"

BSS MONDAY IDEA - QUICKUTZ AUTUMN OAK LEAVES AND ACORN DIE

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

This week, Sharon suggested we feature a new die from Quickutz.

It contains four dies on one plate, small oak leaf cluster, large oak leaf cluster,

large oak leaf and acorn and vine.

Card Recipe:

Ranger distress ink sponged on leaves

Card Recipe

After the die was cut, I used the blank for a stencil.

I sponged the large and small oak leaf clusters with distress ink randomly on a cream

card.

Spellbinders oval die

Large oak leaf die sponged with distress ink. I used a black permanent

fine line pen to dot the leaves. Sprayed gold perfect pearls with water from a mini mister on

the card before adding the oval with leaves. Click to enlarge to see how beautiful this effect is.

Cream card stock card. Ran dies through the dotted swiss embossing folder.

I have used the simple, elegant Christmas stamp by Northwoods for the focal point of my card.

I colored with Copic Markers then cut it out using Spellbinders Large Deckled Mega Rectangles set.

Ran a gold Krylon pen along the edges and white glittered the pine needles on the image. I purposely left the background plain so that I could "busy up" the background.

For the background, I used four different papers from the Basic Gray Jovial Paper Pad.

Dots, Stripes, flowers, and plaid. I cut strips, all different sizes to fit across the card.

In between each print, I glued a 1/4 inch strip of green cardstock, and matted the stamped image in the same paper. Snowflakes are from a punch and glittered paper.

It's fun to use all different papers to make a background, and this beautiful stamp allows you to do just that.

BSS-MONDAY IDEA - PETAL CARD

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today's idea is to make a Petal Card.

The image and the bow are mounted on a belly band around the card (the orange piece).

The stamp is Pumpkin Marci by LA LA Land Stamps, isn't she adorable!!

The pumpkin border on the belly band is Martha Stewart.

This is the card without the belly band. I used circle die cuts, made from textured green card stock and paper by My Mind's Eye. Notice the fold.

The inside of the card, I used a square of textured orange card stock. The sentiment is by Impression Obsession B5586. The pumpkins are by Rubber Stamp Tapestry, Pumpkin Border SPV 10004.

Edges are sponged with orange die ink

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

I bought this beautiful stamp at the Stamp,Scrap and Art Show at Sharon's booth with the intentions of putting it aside for awhile, but it kept staring at me and I just had to ink it up!

This weeks idea is a Halloween(or any scene type stamp)Card with an inked background.

This beautiful stamp by Stampendous is Cling Crowscape CRR131

I stamped it on smooth white card stock with black dye ink. Allowed it to dry for a minute. Then I got my distress inks out and started to ink up the background. I started with Spiced Marmalade, then Mustard Seed and went in the sides with Vintage Photo. Use a circular motion with the sponge applicator beginning on the edge of the card stock and working your way in. Blend the yellow into the orange. I matted with orange and yellow glitter paper on black cardstock. The tabs are small strips of the black card stock with a slight strip of the yellow glitter paper glued to the center of the black tab.

Black pearls or rhinestons can be added for interest.

The inside is yellow text weight paper stamped with the sentiment by Inkadinkado.

The fence punch is by Martha Stewart.

Here, I sponged Glossy white card stock with the same colors, then stamped

the image with black dye ink. Colors are more vibrant, but the first one looks more spooky.

This is a fun technique and adds a lot of bright color.

For those of you who made it to our Stamp Camp Luau this summer, you know what recipe I am talking about. Here is the recipe for the Pineapple Mandarine Orange Cake that we all enjoyed:

Make Icing first:
1 - 20 oz can crushed pineapple with juice
1 - 9 oz cool whip
3 oz packet of instant vanilla pudding mix

--- mix above ingredients by hand until well blended, cover and stick in refrigerator.

Cake:
1 yellow Duncin Hines cake mix
11 oz can mandarine oranges (check for seeds -- drain juice)
4 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil

--- mix all cake ingredients until oranges are broken up and it is fluffy. Divide among three greased, round cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for twenty minutes.

Once the cake in baked, remove from the pans and let cool. When cooled, plate and layer with icing. The icing does not need to cover around the cake but enough to separate the layers of the cake. Refrigerate and serve.

We have been busy all week getting ready for the StampScrapArtTour at the Hamburg Fairgrounds this weekend. The show is open from Saturday August 27th from 10-5 and Sunday August 28th from 10-3. There will be tons of great vendors, demos, make & takes, and giveaways. We have the tickets pre-sale for $5 at the store and they are $6 at the show. The tickets are good for both days of the show. For those bag ladies out there be sure to bring your Buffalo Stamps and Stuff tote bags for a free gift (one per bag lady). Throughout the show we will have tons of great specials running at our booth so be sure to stop by! BSS MONDAY IDEA - WINDOW STAMP REMAKE

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today's idea was suggested by Sharon.

I took the Winter Window Scene Stamp from Northwoods Rubber Stamps (P8324)

and created a simple card.

Colored with Copic Markers

Small strip of glossy white card stock run through a Snowflake Embossing folder, torn on one edge, inked with Stormy Sky distress ink.

Snowflakes, Martha Stewart punch, with small Crystals in the center.

White glitter on snow.

Then, I stamped the same stamp again on brown card stock this time, cut out the windows to remove the winter scene and stamped the Fall Garden scene by Northwoods Rubber Stamps (P7588) on white card stock and colored with copics, trimmed to fit the window and popped up the small pumpkins onto the window sill to cover the pine cones.

Brown, Green, orange and yellow card stock used

Ran through various Embossing folders.

Yellow card stock edges inked with Wild Honey distress ink.

Leaf at the top is a Cuttlebug die and folder. Cut on yellow card stock then used

distress inks to give fall color to the leaf. Sprayed with gold perfect pearls and water from a mini mister.

This is a very versatile stamp and next week I'm going to show you a Spring and Summer

Window.

Now I know school is right around the corner and I'll get to that in a moment but first, do you have your travel, vacation and summer holiday paper and supplies?

School's BACK! and we've got some really cute papers, vintage papers and papers that might work for your older ones (if you can get them to take a picture!) Think of making them a mini-album of their high school years or even just the new school year. Take a picture of the first day of school - and the last, see how fast they grow!

I'm using a Smash book to chronicle my daughter's first year in high school. Hopefully it will progress and I'll do all four years. I'm hoping it will be a great going away to college gift for her.

Sneak Peek Time...What goes Boo in the night? All our little goblins and witches and things that go bump in the night. Halloween is coming and so are our new papers and stamps.

Lastly, we have gotten lots, and lots of new dies in from Memory Box, Cherry Lynn, Joy, Marianne and of course, Spellbinders. Some are on display in the store and we'll have more at the Stamp, Scrap. Art Tour next weekend at the fairgrounds.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - RIBBON TRIM

Before we get started on this weeks idea, I just wanted to share a picture of a card made by Lisa Kind for last weeks challenge and left in the comments section. Last weeks idea was to mix up the papers you use on your cards.

What a bright fun card, Lisa, thanks for sharing with us!

Now, for this weeks idea, Ribbon Trim.

This fun technique is also easy. To make the ribbon trim, cut a length of ribbon

a couple of inches longer than the area you want the ribbon to run across.

Cut a straight slit on either end a little wider than the ribbon you're using with a

craft knife. Tie a knot in the center of each piece of ribbon and put the ends through the slit. Tape the ends down on the back side (trim them if they are too long)

You can also make a rectangle or square ribbon trim around an image.

Medallion stamped in light orchid, then used a water based marker to

highlight with darker purple before stamping.

Pink card stock is embossed with a Cuddlebug folder

Fancy square die is Nellie Snellen

Medallion edges decorated with Star Dust Stickles

BSS MONDAY IDEA - LET'S MIX IT UP!!

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea

Do you always make your project or card with coordinating colors and papers?

Today, I thought we would have a go at mixing up papers and colors that are pleasing and interesting to the eye.

I stamped and colored this beautiful Cardinal and cherries on white smooth card stock.

I cut it out using a Labels 4 die from Spellbinders. I decided to leave the edges and background white so I could use different papers and ribbon.

The mat is a dark, almost Navy Blue textured card stock on a white textured card stock base. The polka dot background paper is October Afternoon, 5 & Dime Stack. Then I added some print paper across the middle with cherries on it, by My Mind's Eye, Fine and Dandy, and finally, the red gingham ribbon and bow were added. I popped up the image so it stood out on the card. Colored with Copics.

For the inside, I used the cherry paper as the background, a strip of the polka dot paper and a strip of the gingham ribbon across the middle. I stamped part of the image on a smaller label 4 die along with the sentiment which was included in the set.

I'd love to know what you think!

It must be Christmas! Sharon's back from CHA and each time the UPS truck pulls up, our faces light up like children at Christmas time. You'd think the UPS and Fedex men were santa. We have slowly started to get in some of the new, great stuff that Sharon ordered at CHA. It wouldn't be fair if we didn't give you a glimpse of the new stuff... and the best part of it all is that there is only tons and tons more to come!

BSS MONDAY IDEA - HONEYCOMB PAPER

Welcome to the Monday Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Idea

Today's idea is to use Honeycomb Paper. This fun project uses the honeycomb pad from Inky antics, along with the Clear Stamp Set Caterpillar HoneyPop, also by Inky Antics.

I made a Joy Fold card. All stamps are from the Catepillar set.

Blue textured card stock for the base card. Green gingham and polka dots for the mats.

The images are colored with Copics. His little glasses are shiny with glossy accents.

Peeled Paint distress ink around edges of image and sentiment.

EK Success rick rack punch.

The card opened. Here is the fun for this card! I cut apples from the

stamp set out of the honeycomb paper and adhered them to the folds, so that when you open the card, the honeycomb paper opens up! So cute!

Barn Door red distress ink used around edge of image.

A small Velcro half circle used to keep the card closed.

Honeycomb paper is fun to play with and adds an element of surprise when

the recipient of your card opens it. Packages contain one color and it comes in a variety of colors.

With all the hot weather this week who wants to even think about Christmas but it's in the air at the Just Rite Stamps Booth. So many beautiful cards using their stamps along with Spellbinder Dies. Here's a few more samples:

This was a great project using the shadow box from 7 Gypsies and Halloween papers from Echo Park...I think.

It just a sneak peek, but here's one of Tim 's new storage cases. There's another smaller one he uses for his Trinkets. It so cool and will fit inks, sprays paints, tools and more! I'll be showing more from his booth's tomorrow. If you see any of his new products you can call the store to pre-order to assure you will get the first shipment. Gotta go, more tomorrow!

Here's a peek of some of the new Edgeabilities Dies coming from Spellbinders. They are so cool and can be used with others to create beautiful layers edges or just alone. With all the new sets you cane get over 70 different combinations! How cool is that?

Here's a look at some of the great new stamps coming from Penny Black. You won't be disappointed at all!

Heartfelt creations has several new dies and stamp images coming. They have the cutest little basket die and I ordered a bunch! I'm bring a sample of the finished project back with me so when you are in ask to see it.

It may be hard to see how beautiful these acetate images look layered onto cards. I thought these would make beautiful cards that would take no time to make. The artist took her painted images and made them into acetate sheets...you will have to see these in person.

Finally for tonight here's a peek of some of Wendy Vecchi's latest projects. I love them! Don't forget to mark your calendars for the weekend of Oct. 1st when she's coming back to Buffalo! Until tomorrow!

Chicgo...My Kind of Town!!!!

Mark and I arived Thursday last week to attend the summer CHA Show. We had a couple days to enjoy one of our favorite cities. Here's a few photos of why we love Chicago...

They have the greatest popcorn! One of my favorite foods.

This is the cupcake showcase from Sugar Bliss, a cute cupcake shop in the city. They actually sell shots of just frosting!

Lunch time.

They make the best smoothies. I was so full from eating everything else I couldn't have one. If you every come across one they are sooo good, you have to have one.

This is a new statue of Marilyn Monroe that just was just unveiled while we were there...pretty cool!

You can't go to Chicago without visiting theMagnificent Mile. There is tons of stores including my fav!!!!

I found this great place similar to Panera in LA and loved it so much and we found one here in Chicago.

The trains...so easy to get around the city. That's it for now...off the Day 1 of CHA. See you soon.

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea

Today's idea is to make a banner for your card.

To make the banner:

Cut strips of paper 1x2 inches.

Fold in half so you end up with a 1 inch square

Mark a dot at 1/2 inch at the bottom unfolded edge

Cut from the mark to the right hand corner

Cut from the mark to the left hand corner

After as many banner pieces you will need are cut, add letters, center them

on some kind of twine or string. Adhere the front to the back.

Adhere to card when everything else is in place on your card.

I used pop dots to pop up the banner and hold it in place.

The idea is to stamp the word stamp first, then stamp the poppy stamp with embossing ink and emboss with clear embossing powder. Then color the flowers with distress inks and the sponge ink tool.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - EMBOSS YOUR EMBOSSING

Welcome to the BSS Monday Idea

Today's idea is to Emboss your Embossing.

That is, emboss card stock with an embossing folder, lightly rub over the

entire piece with a pigment pad, or a Versamark water mark pad. Use clear embossing powder over an ink color, or colored embossing powder over Versamark watermark pad.

Use as a mat for an image, as I did, or cut with a die cut to go with an image.

Garage Sale

The garage sale was a blast! The crowds, long lines all proved worth it with the number of customers we were able to see in such a short time. People came from all over just to line up and shop at our annual sale. It was very interesting to see what customers had to share. Stamps, stickers, papers, you name it, customers were selling it at very low prices. Our own employees couldn't help but shop with the great deals.

BUFFALO STAMPS AND STUFF - MONDAY IDEA - Z-CARD

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea - The Z-Card.

This card is a fun shaped card that will fit in a 5x7 envelope.

Cute a piece of card stock 10 1/2 by 7 inches.

Score at 3 1/2, and 7 inches.

On the 10 1/2 long side, at the top of the card, draw a light line from the

top right corner to 2 inches down on the left hand corner. Lay the card on your

cutter and cut off.

With a border punch, punch across the top of the card.

Fold and crease the score lines, the first fold is a mountain fold and

the second fold is a valley fold.

Decorate as desired.

BUFFALO STAMPS AND STUFF MONDAY IDEA-GATE FOLD TWO WAY OPENING

WELCOME TO THE BSS MONDAY IDEA.

Today's idea is a Gate Fold card with a two-way opening. I made a regular gate fold card

81/2x 5 1/2, score at 21/8 on either end, crease and fold in to form base card.

Decorate the two front pieces with designer paper or card stock. For this card, I used a

Martha Stewart punch to punch the edges of the gate folds. I colored my new little mouse stamp (Awww), the July stamp of the month from House Mouse called "Give Peas a Chance" with Copics and sponged the edges with green ink. Mounted on green card stock. I added adhesive to only the left half of the matted image and adhered it to the top portion of the card on only the left side

I stamped the sentiment, from a Stampendous baby set of small sayings, to the Spellbinder's Fancy Tags Two die. Add adhesive to only the RIGHT half of the die and adhere it below the main image on the right side only. Now, when you open the card, it opens two ways, from the top and the bottom because of the way you adhere the image and the die cut.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - GRADUATION CAP CARD

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea

Today's idea is this Graduation Cap Card.

The card folds down to close like a swing card. I used this Penny Black stamp of the graduates throwing their caps into the air. The bottom panel where the sentiment is, is actually a pocket for cash or a gift card.

This is what the base card looks like after you score, fold, and cut.

The upper right hand corner square is a MOUNTAIN FOLD, so that it

folds down when the card is closed. You only glue your mat and image to the top section.

Here are the directions. Just click on the picture, which will enlarge them, then right click and print target.

Make this in your graduates school colors. Add "The class of 2011" on the front with an alphabet stamp set.

Hope you get a chance to make one of these up if you have a graduate this year.

Memory Box Dies - NEW!

We received an unexpected surprise from the big brown truck today. Memory Box sent us a new release of their dies. I do not exaggerate, they are gorgeous! Above is the pennant, a scallop background with a smaller plain pennant to fit inside.

A beautiful new spiral and a flower with multiple centers for a 3-D effect.

This one is just gorgeous. the card sample is at the bottom. The dies are a border circle pattern, the half butterfly and the cutout wing pattern and body.

Love this! The twig tree with different canopies. The two on the right are a negative image of the canopy. A fabulous effect. We have card samples of each die to illustrate how to use them.

Lastly, this is the cocoa bean butterfly that has a matching stamp. These dies are really special come on in before they are all gone!

New Stuff, Old Stuff, I like it stuff!

I've got all kinds of 'STUFF' today! First, finally, we got the Smash albums and accessories in!

(Now don't ask me what happened to the top photo or the rest of the 'sleeping' photos in this entry. I rotated when I downloaded them and they are being stubborn and laying down again! )

We have four choices of the basic journal and many of the add-ons to make your journal your own. Come on in and see for yourself.

It's that time of year. Vacations are upon us and we have a great selection of travel and stay at home and soak in the pool or wherever papers and embellishments.

I also decided to pull some papers that are some of my personal favorites...

Mixed in here are Webster Pages and several others. Take note of the lobster paper on top! I love it! The back is even cool with a Nantucket theme and a whale! My Long Island and New England roots are showing! These would be great for a clambake party or for those of you lucky enough to go to the Cape or anywhere ocean-y.

On the horizon - Stamp Camp! Yes, it begins again. Sharon and the girls are coming up with some great designs for our next Stamp Camp - details will follow when we get closer to the date.
CHA-Summer - Oh, no, MORE??!! Sharon will be traveling to Chicago for CHA-Summer in July so there will be more to come

With summer slowly starting to arrive we've got projects to do inside and stamps and papers to document your outside fun.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - FATHER'S DAY HOODIE

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today we are using a Hooded Sweatshirt Stamp from Too Much Fun to make a Father's Day Card.

Front of the Card.

I stamped the first one on white textured card stock. Colored the cuffs and hood red, the pocket blue. I used a light gray to go over the shaded area of the shirt. I cut the Bills buffalo that I got online and glued to the front. The small football is from a clear stamp set called Game Day by Karen Foster. I punched holes and ran cord through for the ties. A small alphabet set was used for the word Dad.

For the second one, I stamped on green textured card stock. I stamped again on the striped paper and cut out the pouch pocket and the hood and glued them on the card. I used a darker gray marker to go over the shaded area of the shirt.

I stamped a sentiment in each card. The white card is an old stamp from Stampa Rosa,(out of business) but you could computer generate the words if you like it. The second card, I made a pocket a little wider than a gift card, and stamped Happy Father's Day on it and slipped a gift card inside. Just put strong red line tape on the very edges and glue in place.

This is a great stamp. Can be used for a lot of different occasions and can be done in girly colors for gals too!

BSS MONDAY CHALLENGE - WHITE EMBOSSING ON KRAFT

Welcome to Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

The idea for today is to use white embossing on Kraft Card stock.

I love the look you get!

I used a large background stamp from B Line for this card, but you could use a variety of small stamps and stamp and emboss. The stamp is Penny Black (Slapstick). I colored with Copic Markers. The larger mouse is stamped again and cut out and popped up on top of the first one. I never use orange, but thought the darker burnt orange mat and ribbon went well with the pot.

Hope you have time to try this technique, think you will be pleasantly surprised. I've used a whimsical stamp, but I can see this technique on an elegant card too.

BSS MONDAY IDEA - SPARKLY LACE BACKGROUND

Welcome to the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Monday Idea.

Today's idea is a pretty sparkly lace background.

All you need is two-sided adhesive paper, a pretty piece of lace (I bought this bridal lace remnant for $1.00) and some glitter.

You simply cut the two-sided adhesive paper to fit the front of your card. Lay the lace on the top of the adhesive after you have adhered it to your card front. Press the lace down firmly. Sprinkle the glitter over the entire piece of lace. Tap off the excess glitter. Put a piece of copy paper over the card and press lightly. Now just pull off the piece of lace.

For this card, I used a piece of light pink card stock. The glitter is a brighter pink from Art Institute. The Stamp is Hero Arts. The flower is Prima. Pearls are Melissa Frances.

This is the same piece of lace, on black card stock with mint green glitter.

The garden boots are a stamp by Great Impressions. I cut about an inch off the bottom of the front of the card and added the bottom of the lace to the inside of the card using the same technique.

A close up of the inside of the card. The sentiment is Hero Arts and the border punch is Martha.

Just cut a piece of the two-sided adhesive paper the width I wanted to decorate. You could use pieces of lace on a spool for borders.
