Guest Artist Dyan Reaveley

Mixed Media Artist Dyan Reaveley's unique eclectic style comes through in her vibrant color combinations of inks and paints, using text as an insightful design element and the clever use of imagery in her artwork. Dyan teaches and demos with Ranger and is known for her creativity with layering color, images and thought-provoking collages.

Dyan owns and operates a teaching and design studio Art from the Heart in Harrogate, in the north of England. Dyan's mission is to introduce everyone to the fabulous therapy that is art journaling and creating mixed-media art.

Anatomy of a page
3 hrs $70

Sunday November 18th, 10-1

Anatomy of a page does exactly what it says; it breaks down one of Dyan's journal pages and takes you through step by step. From the base colour, adding the collage, doodling and colouring the borders, making shaped lines to add your journaling. You will be guided through each step whilst being fed all the little hints and tips you need to continue your journal at home. Everyone will make their own journal, in Dyan's  fool proof way from Manilla card and sticky back canvas. Once you make one you will be hooked (Students will need a black pen to write with).

Sunday November 18th, 2-6

We start by making gorgeous inky and painty backgrounds onto Manila card stock, adding background stamping and stenciling as we go. These backgrounds are all folded and made into a fabulous journal. We will be adding flaps, tags, lift ups, pockets and envelopes for you to fill with quotes. (Will need to bring along a trimmer)

Saturday November 17th, 1-5

We will start the class by preparing background signatures for the book using paints, inks, stencils, gesso, stamping, collage and texture. We will then start to cut various apertures before strengthening the signatures with sticky back canvas and adding to an accordion fold spine. The addition of mini pages, tags, flaps and doodling is followed by a decorated canvas cover. (Students will need to bring a cutting mat and cutting knife)

Saturday November 17th 10-12, and 6-8

We will be creating large quirky tags in Dyan's quintessential eclectic style. Techniques include paints, inks, stamps, sprays, stencils, and painting. All finished off with her array of quote stamps.
