Wednesday Night Lights!

Sharon’s Wednesday night video featured a new card technique she learned during one of her vendor classes this week. As she mentioned at the end, this is Sharon’s idea of an interactive card! Sharon has provided the basic card dimensions you need to start with along with where you need to score.

Here you can see the card base after the score lines have been done.

Fold and reinforce all your score lines.

After you've reinforced all your score lines you can see they form boxes on the edges of your card.

Your last score created a 1/4" tab on each side. Add a line of glue or use a 1/8" or 1/4" score tape .

Fold at the second score line tucking the 1/4" edge under. Press to secure. Do the same on the other side.

Gently press your ends up creating a small box on each side.

The last set of dimensions are used to create mats for the top faces of your card.

Sharon will be finishing this first card off camera and she thought she'd add a really thin black mat under her patterned paper because this card will become a Halloween card with the addition of the following image.

Ribbit! If you kiss this frog will he turn into a prince? I'm not sure I want to find out! This is a Whipper Snapper stamp. Sharon sold the last one she had during the live video so call the store if you think this is your Prince Charming to make sure he doesn't hop away!

We'll set that card aside for now and move on to a card Sharon will finish in this video. This is lovely paper and Sharon has finished the basic card base. The dimensions are exactly the same as the first card.

The stamp is a Pretty Pink Posh. I couldn't get a good shot of the full stamp but you will see the full image in the next photo.

This stamp has s stencil that you can also use with the matching die.

Sharon shares the colors she used for her flowers. They work so well with the paper.

The back of this lovely patterned paper is an equally lovely mauve pattern. Sharon used the die to cut a shadow for her colored flowers.

Sharon very slightly offset the flowers over the mauve paper. NOTE: Sharon used 110 lb paper for the flowers she colored to give them extra stability.

In order to determine where to place the flowers and still be able to fit it into a standard A2 envelope, Sharon tests the placement of the flowers before she adheres them. Keep in mind with your center image and your card laying flat you don't want to exceed 4 1/4".

The floral stamp set also had a 'Go for it!" stamp and a matching die. Sharon created a matted banner and tucked it under the stems checking that when flat it didn't exceed 4 1/4".

Viola! Sharon's finished card.

Newton's Nook has this fall oval stamp and Sharon used the leftovers from when she demoed the plaid Pretty Pink Posh background stamp last week. It is back in-stock.

Newton's Nook also had this really cute back of a pick-up truck image for a third card.

What a versatile card base idea. It can be used for any occasion with almost any stamp or die. Thanks Sharon!

My funny for today, may the men never be ours and the mom always be us...

That's it for me for today. I welcomed today's cooler temps and I'm looking for more. A little store reminder - the store will be open Friday 10-6, Saturday 10-3, closed Sunday AND Monday. Kaitlyn and Dave are coming for the weekend and I hear a little baby shopping is planned. Enjoy your Labor Day!

P.S. - Sharon asked if anyone created one of these cards to try and post to our Facebook page. We're still trying to figure out exactly how you would do that. Maybe in the Comments section of the post. If you are not on FB you can always send a photo of your card to us at buffalostamps@msn.com and we will try and post to our social media. We love to see what you create!
