I've been a bit MIA for a bit. I haven't had a chance to go to the store much partly because of other commitments and partly because I'm just lazy and don't want to get dressed to go out. Yes, I hang out at home in a housecoat and slippers 95% of the time. Over the last several weeks we've had company for the weekend, time spent at our local Village Hall, gathering 'stuff' for a yard sale (see me in July), keeping tabs on our globe trotting daughter. Can you say 'Iceland' and attending Concord & 9th's Virtual Summer Camp.
C9 Summer Camp it's a ton of work, a bit on the pricy side (but you get a whole lot of product not available otherwise) and you make some fabulous cards created by some our favorite designers like Laura Bassen, Kristina Werner, and Jennifer McQuire to name a few. The videos are available to go back and reference if you can't attend the live broadcasts or to reference back to if you can't finish the card in the regular class time.
I was in the Poppy cabin and my counselor was Jaycee Gaspar, an incredibly talented card maker from Colorado. His cards were my favorite (as were his cards from last years camp). They are beautiful and if you are a flower person, his designs are right up your alley. But wait! I have BIG NEWS!
Direct from Jess, Kait and Mark - Spellbinders has made a die set honoring Sharon!
I apologize for the awful photo. It's reversed and badly cropped but you can see 'Sharon's Scissors'.
This past weekend there was a big tradeshow out west. Brenda from Spellbinders announced, at the show, that they have created a special die set to honor Sharon. The set celebrates Sharon's love of Fussy Cutting! She shared that whenever they had class events at these trade shows, everyone wanted to sit next to Sharon because she enjoyed fussy cutting so much and would help others with theirs. The set features two scissors with heart shaped handles and Sharon's photo. I believe the sentiment says "YOU'RE ALWAYS IN MY HEART". The back of the die features a lovely dedication to Sharon.
Jess has added the set to the store and it's available for pre-order. The cost is $24.50 and a portion of the sale of each set will be donated to the American Heart Association in Sharon's memory. The set will be shipping in August.
Jess also shared that Brenda from Spellbinders will be helping Mark and the girls with some ordering of new product for the fall season. I'm so excited and touched by the crafting community's generosity and heart.
That's it for now, stay cool everyone and stay crafty.
