BSS MONDAY IDEA - PAPER WEAVING

Welcome to the Monday Buffalo Stamps and Stuff Idea.

 

Today we are going to do a little paper weaving.  Remember making those pot holders on the square loom when you were a kid?  Well, same idea.

 

 

Here is  close up of the card.  My base card is 5x7.  The woven background is

4 1/4x51/2.  I cut 18 pieces 1/2 inch wide (you can use any size that you like)

by 7" long.  Then I used a sponge applicator and green dye ink to distress the edges.

Now for the weaving.  Just weave the paper over and under to form a square

larger than the piece you want to cover.  I left a small space between each

row for added interest.  I used cream colored paper for the strips.  Take

your 4 1/4x51/2 inch piece of card stock in the same color with adhesive applied,  and lay it on the back of the woven square.  I laid mine on a small slant. Cut the excess from each of the four sides of the edges of the piece you just covered.

 

The finished card.  I matted the woven piece with  green textured card stock.

The butterfly designer paper is Graphic 45, Little Darlings Collection.

This was a fun background to create.  You could also cut the strips from paper

that has been embossed, or emboss the strips after cutting for even more texture.
