I know the calendar says January 1 is the beginning of the new year, but for many of us the start of school marks the beginning of the new year. It did for me for many, many, years as my husband and myself, for about 10 years, were in the education field.
We're retired now and for a change we are enjoying that most wonderful time of the year because we don't have to get up early anymore, no more school shopping for that endless list of specific supplies, no more decorating the inside of lockers, no more running after the school bus because your child forgot their lunch or driving our daughter to school in your jammies...
Here is our latest addition to the school ranks, Janelle's son, Judah waiting for the bus on his first day of Pre-K.
We finally have the store pretty much back to order and have started the gradual move of Halloween and Christmas to the front of the store as the season changes. We have new fall papers, stamps and dies in the front as you walk in and the top of each side of our long center aisle paper display has Halloween on one side and Christmas on the other. We have new paper packs for each holiday and single sheet designs. More comes in almost every day.
Sharon has been retooling our die wall. The great thing about having a small, independent store is you can stock what you want, how much you want. Sharon is great at this. We have so many stamp companies! The downside is we can't carry complete lines of every company we carry, our space is limited, but we think the variety we can offer more than makes up it. Remember, if you see a company you like but we don't have the exact item you want, ask, in many cases we can special order it for you.
On to other new news. Next weekend, September 14-15 , will be busy one around here. On Saturday, September 14 we will be holding an All-Day Crop down at the old Tuesday Morning store. We will have plenty of room as it is a big store and we invite you to gather up all those summer vacation photos, first day of school photos (and last year's Christmas photos...) and spend the day relaxing and cropping or making cards! Crops are not just for scrapbookers - card makers unite! It's never too early to start on your Christmas cards! Bring a friend, we will provide the food - lunch and dinner. Bring a favorite snack to share and spend the day with our favorite hobby! Call the store to sign up.
The next day, Sunday, September 15, is our annual Garage Sale. We will be in the same location, the old Tuesday Morning store, and we will have 40 sellers! Come and get some great bargains. All Garage Sale purchases must be made in cash. Our regular store front will be open and you can do a little shopping there if you'd like also. The sale runs from 10 am to 1 pm. We're looking forward to seeing you there!
In honor of our Garage Sale I found this on an old post from my personal blog and thought it might apply to some of us - no names, promise!
You Might Be Addicted To Stamps - Jeff Foxworthy style...
If you gave up smoking because you had to choose between the stamps you wanted and your cigarettes...you might be addicted to stamps.
If on marketing day you came to the stamp store first because if you went to the supermarket you might not have enough money left for stamps...you might be addicted to stamps.
If you've asked your LSS owner for the "Christmas Wish List" form and it's not even Labor Day yet...you might be addicted to stamps.
If you wait until your husband goes to bed and then creep into the garage in your pj's to bring the bag of stamps you bought that afternoon so he won't see them...you might be addicted to stamps.
If your "Vacation to Hawaii" piggy bank is suspiciously empty...you might be addicted to stamps.
If you complain that your stamp store doesn't have a ground hog stamp - to celebrate the holiday...you might be addicted to stamps.
If you start a petition campaign to your congressman demanding a mandatory, federal, three day weekend devoted to stamping...you might be addicted to stamps.
If you turn your child's room into a dedicated stamping studio and he/she is only starting 4th grade...you might be addicted to stamps.
If you have every take out and delivery restaurant within a five mile radius on speed dial and your kids have memorized the numbers...you might be addicted to stamps.
If you start making up relatives to make cards for...you might be addicted to stamps.
Any other symptoms anyone??
