It’s a Two-fer Day! (A long one!)

Sharon was back for Wednesday FB video from home but it was a short one so I decided to give you a ‘two-fer’ and combine with Saturday morning's video. Mona will be joining Saturday’s video but we don’t know what she’s going to do so it will be a surprise for us all.

Sharon featured a box die from Spellbinders. This die goes together very easily and adds dimension to your card as the box does not lie flat when it’s fully assembled. It makes for a great card but you will have to use padding or a card box when mailing. Let’s see what Sharon has for us.

Here is the basic box die we are using from Spellbinders.

You can see the die on the right and the back piece that will lie flat on your card base.

All the pieces of the box. If you look closely you can see that the ‘v’ shaped front pieces is bigger than the back piece. Even with the tabs scored and folded when attached to the back piece the front of the box will bow up like a tent just enough to give the box dimension and an opening to put something inside the finished box.

The two front flap pieces are glued on.

The flaps of the front of the box are reinforced with the ergonomic bone folder in the photo. It’s design makes scoring and burnishing easier on the hands. You can also see by how Sharon can fit the tip of her finger into the bottom of the box how when assembled, the back of the box will sit flat but the front is slightly raised.

This little guy is also a Spellbinders die. He will be featured in the box.

Shaon kicked up the background by using layers and an embossing folder of autumn leaves.

Here’s Mr. Turkey either hiding in the box or popping out of it, your choice.

Our next card utilizes this cute balloon animal die.

Sharon added some Copic marker to shade the balloons to give the die more depth. Before she’s done she will also highlight the balloon with a white gel pen.

Sharon was unsure how she wanted the balloon dog to come out of the box. She’s going to play with it a bit and we will show you later. Keep in mind with a card like this the position of the box on the card needs to be well thought out if you intend to add a sentiment to the front of your card.

All the ingredients for the next card, Sharon’s current favorite background paper and greenery from a variety of Spellbinders die sets.

This is the first of two die sets Sharon used on this card. Again, a Spellbinders set.

This is the other die set Sharon used for this next card.

Here Sharon is trying to decide where all the sprigs, leaves, flowers and buds were going to go.

Trying to position all her die cuts was a little challenging so Sharon said she would finish the card later and post with the others on our FB Makers page. I will share below.

For Sharon’s last card she made her box and used this die cut set from Spellbinders for her accents. It’s a gnomie kinda card!

The final versions.

Continuing with new product, here are some of the Spellbinders dies used in the cards above.

Divinity Designs has several Thanksgiving and Christmas stamps and dies. There are several inspiration stamps for the inside of your card along with front cover sentiments.

Next we have new product and a return from MFT. This first Christmas sentiment stamp has a flowing modern style font.

This Nativity set is a stand alone die set. You can use all or just several of the pieces in a silhouette style.

A good leaf set is always a multi use die. MFT also has a dove stand alone.

A unique new 'Peace' die.

These are new transfers that Sharon will be demoing in a class. She went through these very quickly so I apologize for the blurriness.

Grungy Letters stencil from Studio Light.

Here is an old favorite. These are little dots, each with a gold outline that are stickers. Super popular in the past and what's old is new again!

We interrupt this post with a SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!! TIM HOLTZ NEW COLOR RELEASE
LUMBERJACK PLAID

We have our first shipment with more on the way!

Remember that display that went boom last week? Here it is all assembled and filled, OLO Markers.

Newton’s Nook has a few new and a few returning favorites. First is Newton’s Nook oval die set.

This stamp can be used for other occasions besides Christmas.

They also have a tree stencil that has four layers on one stencil. Start with the trees then move your stencil up to do the snowy accents next is the star on top of the tree and your last move up does the base and some branch accents.

Sharon kept moving these around and it was hard to get them to focus and avoid the glare. A great excuse to come into the store and check them out in person. Here is another in their truck series. This one features presents, a tree and a wreath on the back of the truck.

Newton decorating the tree and making a snowman.

Nutcrackers, I'm a sucker for nutcrackers.

Puppy and kitten sleeping in a chair. Check out the wreath with the dogs on the right.

The sentiment, 'May your home be filled with the simple joys of Christmas!'

PhotoPlay is next. Again, I had glare issues with these. I've tried to post the backside of the stamps wherever possible so you can see what they look like colored.

Double edged stitched snowdrifts. When you cut with these, each side will have stitching. You can just reverse one piece and use it as an additional drift on our card background.

These next two I could not get a good photo of the front of the set so here is he back with several of the images colored and made into cards.

A collection of 14 holiday colored foils packaged together valued at over $100 and on sale for $48. These are to be used with a Glimmer foiling machine.

Lastly, here is part of the kit for the Lisa Horton class coming up. Those who have already signed up have had their kits sent out but we have a few more available. Call the store for more information.

Mona is up next with a die assembly tip featuring Divinity Stamps Tom Turkey die. We're starting with the finished turkey.

You can see all the pieces of the die set here. Note we have layers but the layers don't always lay on top of each other. Mona's hack will help you assemble this and other layered style die cuts with multiple pieces.

Mona has cut all her piece and you can see them on the right of the finished turkey. She also has a strip of orange paper. That strip is what she will use to build her turkey, layer by layer.

Mona begins by layering her first row of feathers on to the strip and then she adds another, gluing to the strip, not the the piece above it.

After adding the wings to the body, Mona added the piece to her turkey, again on the orange strip and she's far enough into the turkey to put some glue on the turkey body already made for extra strength and stability.

The head goes on. She also added the beak, googlie eyes and the waddle (which she couldn't find, it was so tiny!)

She's almost done but has to add the feet. Before she added the feet she cut away the portion of the orange strip that is seen below the turkey body. There are even little guide 'bumps' to position the feet under.

Mona also demo'd how this word die has three layers to it, the words, a thin border around the words and then a larger shadow border. Her finished card will be on display in the store.

My funny for today, isn’t it how we all see ourselves when we craft?

Happy Halloween everyone! Enjoy the kiddies and their costumes and don’t feel you have to finish all that leftover candy, riigghhttt! See you next week and above all Stay Safe!
