Lots of videos, Lots!

I probably should have started this a lot sooner but for some reason I didn’t. Now I have a backlog of two Wednesday, Friday's and Saturday’s videos. If I need to break it into two posts I’ll let you know at the end.

First up Sharon did a quicky video featuring new classes coming up for September. We’re starting with an acrylic painting on fabric project by Charlene. This looks like a fascinating class. Check the class description page and/or the calendar for dates and give the store a call to reserve a spot.

Next up is Lori with a home decor piece for fall. Lots of die cuts and beautiful fall papers in this one. I love paper decor pieces. I used to do a lot of them.

Kim is back with a new spin on an oldie but goodie stamp and die combo, combining with some new elements. Tweet Friends is done with an older MFT stamp and die set and accented with gorgeous new papers, coloring and more.

This is Sharon's 49th & Market's Viken collection album. Photos do not do it justice. You need to see it in person to see how lovely this album is. In my mind, I see it as a great wedding or engagement present for a couple just starting out or an anniversary album for a couple's special day.

Let's get back to basics with this Beginning Copic class. This is more of a technique and Copic basic FAQ type of class. You will color, but you won't be making cards, per say. However, what you color can be turned into cards. It's the knowledge you will get and the de-mystification of Copics that's the objective of this class.

Sharon is back with Whipper Snapper and sunflowers. You know that coloring is like therapy for Sharon and Whipper Snapper's images are some of her favorites.

It's a Gnomie Halloween! What would any holiday be without gnomes? Sharon has picked three from Woodware and created three cards, one of which is a shaker. What fun these are!

Simple Stories gives you his month's double layout class. Join us and do the class in the store or we can send you the kit and you can do it on your own.

I've already signed up for this one! Featuring Penny Black's new holiday dies, this class while looking simple will give you a bit of a challenge as you assemble each card adding subtle touches that will make these your favorites for holiday giving.

Hamster Birthday is an adorable collection of four birthday cards featuring Mama Elephant's Hamster collection of stamps and coordinating dies. You will be doing a slimline, a flat shaker and a dimensional card along with a classic birthday wishes card. Prepare to do inking and coloring in this fun class.

Sunflowers are the subject of this month's Graphic 45 card class. You'll be making three cards, two that are interactive.

We're continuing Pumpkin Wishes now that we are a beginning pumpkin latte season.  More Mama Elephant pumpkins and costumed cuties along with an inking technique for clouds. This is a fun and easy class for coloring.

Alcohol Inks are the basis of this technique class with Alison. Have you always wanted to create gorgeous backgrounds of your own? This is the class for you!

Charlene has another installment of her watercolor classes. This time no-line watercoloring.

Next up is Sharon’s Wednesday night video featuring her tutorial on assembling a classic box card. Pink & Main’s die box is featured. This is what Sharon's (and many of our) desktop looks like while working. Here you can see all the pieces in the Pink & Main box die set.

These are the basic starting pieces for the box. You need to cut out two of the large piece and two or three of the strip (shelf) pieces. The number you use will depend on what you are putting in your box.

Use your bone folder to reinforce all the crease in both of your base die cuts.

Each base piece has a tab on one side. You can use liquid glue or we prefer to use a strong score-tape or redline tape. You can see it here on one of the tabs. It's harder to use patterned paper because you need to use the back side of the paper so that the tabs of each piece fit the corresponding straight side of the other piece.

Here Sharon is matching the two pieces together.

Here you can see (before glued) how the pieces will fit together.

The easiest way to add the mat pieces included in your die set is before you completely close your box. You can add the outside squares and the pointed flap mats.

Adding the shelves can be done before you close your box. Do a dry fit with each shelf placing it as far or as close to front of the box as you need. Attach one tab to the side base piece. Add each additional piece the same way allowing for enough space in-between selves and your front and back piece. You can then lay it all flat, add tape to the tabs on the other end and gently close your card.

Lastly add tape or glue to your last base piece tab and gently affix to the open end of your box

Sharon still had to color her little add-on friends and will show the finished card in a future post.

Sharon had another card prepped for the video featuring balloons. Here is the basic box with it's mats.

Here Sharon is starting to add to her base card.

Double layering 'Happy Birthday' and leaving the bottom of the words open, Sharon straddles the shelf with each layer of the sentiment glued on either side of the shelf. That's one way to add your embellishments. The other way is to add acetate strips to the backside of element thereby allowing you to raise and position your element wherever you want.

The backside where you can see all the bits and pieces of the add-on for the baby boxes below. All from Echo Park.

All the add-ons on the boy version of this box card.

The boy card folded up. It will fit into a standard A2 envelope.

The girl version of this cute baby girl box card. You can add your add-on pieces on as many 'shelves' you need.

The same box card all folded up nice and neat!

This was a great card Sharon made several years ago using a smaller box die and making it twice as long so she could fit all her Sizzix drink glass dies inside. The mat piece in front that the 'Cheers' is mounted to helps reinforce the joint between the two pieces and is repeated on the back side of the box.

Here Sharon is trying to demonstrate hw she makes a larger box card by putting two pieces together. Remember, you will have to cut four pieces all together to extend your box.

We sell this acetate that is great for shakers and for reinforcing delicate pieces of add-ons for your box styled cards.

I love making box cards and I hope you enjoy making them too, Here's my funny for today. I eat a lot of cookies...
That's it for my first post. I'll follow up with Friday and Saturday's post in my next post. Have a good rest of your weekend and Stay Safe.
