Wednesday Night Lights and maybe Friday Too

A busy sports week in my house. My husband and myself, through over 40 years indoctrination, are Yankee fans. My husband doesn’t miss a game even to the point of following the game on his phone if not near a TV. Anyway, with the race for the playoffs AND Judge’s drive to break the home run record, baseball takes top priority in our house. Add to it the Browns playing on Thursday night, we had baseball on the TV and football on his computer and my iPad. Video blog editing would just have to wait.  We're starting with a new die set from Concord & 9th. This chevron plate and add ons is a great die.  Here are all the cards we are featuring with this die.

First up is the die itself. It creates this great chevron with stitching background. You also get four bonus dies in the pack. Sharon used the two individual chevrons to create lots of extra chevron strips. There is also two triangle tips included that are not shown.

Sharon's first card is below. She used the simple background with a floral stamp layered on top with a sentiment. Note, you can have the chevron pointing up or down.

Next up Sharon switched things up a bit by using the background die and then layering alternating strips of patterned paper. She also used her favorite Concord & 9th big 'Everyday Sayings' set along with an Altenew leaf die set that we'll see later.

Sharon's third card features alternating chevron strips in fall colors.

The pumpkins come from a Penny Black pumpkin die set.

Sharon takes several layers of her sentiment and stacks them putting the white on top.

Sharon checks her placement, but she has one more addition to her phrase.

Using a blending tool, Sharon adds some Vintage Photo highlights to her sentiment.

She then used her gluing hack, putting a small amount of liquid glue on a piece of scrap paper and gently lifting her delicate script words and swiping the glue on from that scrap.

Next is this 'hello' card. Sharon used the chevron background plate on white then used the individual strips  on this striped paper, alternating white and striped strips.

Here's a sample of a similar paper in different colors so you can see how the blue version was cut and fits.

Another Sharon hack, Sharon wanted the word hello cut from this blue gray paper and she wanted to use the same paper as a mat to her chevron background. Instead of wasting two pieces of paper, Sharon cut her sentiment from the center of the mat paper. The mat will be covered by the chevron background and she saves paper!

Which way to orient this card?

This card still needs something...

Glossy Accents and pop it up! Don't forget the white mat for the hello that comes in the set!

Next up is a way to modify your strips. Sharon takes one of the strips she has already cut and layers the strip die over it, cutting it in two. One of the strips will have the stitching on both sides the other will have a smooth edge. She combines these with the another full sized strip for a modified chevron look.

Add Pink Fresh Washi Tape flowers and Pink Fresh's ready made sentiments and you are almost done.

The final version; notice how Sharon used a thin mat behind her chevron in pink picking up color from the washi die cuts and she popped her florals and her chevron mat.

Another card, a little simpler this time. simple chevron strips and a happy birthday sentiment.

We have a great selection of Bills papers and don't forget our buffalo dies!

Here's that wonky paper that Sharon used for her Bills card.

Here is the Altenew set Sharon used in the second card. A great, all around set that you can use over and over in a variety of cards.

A small preview of my next post. Mona and this plaid turn-about will be featured.

Here is one of Mona's cards using the plaid turn-about and the black cat from Taylored Expressions four in one stencil.

Mona's step card from last week, dimensions to follow.

The winner of which background she should use on her witch card was overwhelmingly green!

Dimensions for the step card. The base piece is 4 1/4" X 11". Score at 1 1/4", 2 1/2", 4 1/4", 6" and 8 1/2". Starting at the 1 1/4" score fold on your score M (mountain), V (valley), M, V and M.

The card piece that rises up at the back of the card is 4 1/4" X 4 7/8" or Mona said you can use 4 3/4".
The last piece you need to cut is the brace that fits underneath that helps keep the card standing. It is 1"X5" and is scored at 1", 2 3/4" and 4". Your brace is folded M, V, M. Fit your brace to the back edge of the base with the longer piece attached at the base of closest valley piece. If you can, check out Mona's video on our YouTube channel for a visual description. It will help.

Unfortunately, I have more in common with the husband than the wife...😢
