I’m not that old! However, I recall there is a song from the way-back by that name. We really had a serious smoky day on Wednesday. My husband and I were out briefly and could smell the wood smoke from those Canadian fires along with being able to see the heavy haze in the air. As bad as our air was the air in the Finger Lakes down to New York City was worse. The Yankee game was cancelled, several Broadway shows canceled their performances and everyone was encouraged to wear a mask if you had to go out. Of course, my Manhattan living daughter was clueless. She thought it was just a hazy day! Her father set her straight.
Wednesday also brought back Sharon’s Wednesday night video. She’s back in her craft room with a stencil set from Pink Fresh. The design also has a matching die set but no stamp set. As you will see, Sharon uses IO inks and for each color she uses two or more shades of each color to add highlights. Here are a few photos. This is a mushroom layered stencil and matching die called ‘The Magic is in You’.
The basic colors Sharon used. Note, she used slightly darker versions of each color to create depth and shade in her images.
Each stencil is numbered to make it easier to know where to start. You can tell the front side of the stencil because you can read the number!
Sharon also added a hint of brown around the edges of the mushroom.
Sharon used two to three shades of green on her leaves.
If you color the stencil exactly how it lays, the matching die will set right on top making the cutting super easy.
Sharon assembled several cards and has a plan for a home decor piece. This is an easel card. Notice all the popped up pieces. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn and has been cut to fit the ledge the easel is propped against.
Sharon also used this favorite nested shapes set for another card.
Here you can see the another card where the mushrooms look like they are in a dome. There is an acetate piece covering the images and a dome base. Inspiration for what comes next.
We have a new version of the Ideology dome. This one is on an elliptical base. Sharon will be using floral oasis, two pieces of each image with floral wire in between each layer with about a half to three quarter of an inch of the wire exposed at the bottom of each image.
Incomplete here, Sharon will finish later, each images is pressed into the oasis and the oasis will be glues to the base of the dome. Sharon will cover the oasis with floral grass and she may also add a few more touches to her final version. I’m looking forward to the reveal.
Here are all the versions she shared in her video.
Mona is on deck Friday. She was in the store on Wednesday and took home lots of stuff so we’ll all be surprised with what she comes up with. Sharon will be back on Saturday with LOTS of new stuff, much of which came in while she was away.
No funny from me today, instead I’m sending hugs, kisses and love to my favorite sweet girl.
I’ll post again after Sharon’s Saturday video. Until then give your fur babies an extra hug and Stay Safe everyone.
