Hello Everyone!
With all of the snow that WNY has had, I hope everyone could work on some projects! I do not mind being "stuck" in the house for a few days. I definitely have plenty of projects to work on.
I decided to do something a little different this week. I used the tree die from Pretty Pink Posh to make a couple of ornaments.
Vellum tree on wood slice base:
For this tree, I cut 12 medium trees out of vellum and then stapled them together In the middle of the tree--see photo below).
Once all the layers are fluffed, I glued the two ends of the tree where the staples are exposed. I used binder clips to help keep the two layers together while the glue dried. (See photo below)
To finish the ornament, I put thin lines of glue on the outer edges of each layer and adhered Ranger Distress Mica Flakes to make it look like snow. I glued a strand of floss to the top of the tree for the hanger. I had picked up a bag of various sizes of wood slices from Hobby Lobby recently, so I used a small one for the base of the tree. I added some of the mica flakes to the wood base and then used a hot glue gun to attach the tree to the wood base.
For the second ornament, I die-cut 8 layers from a two-sided cardstock. I scored each tree layer down the middle and folded them in half. I glued 4 layers together and used the binder clips until it dried. Then I repeated the process for the last 4 layers. (See photos below)
After both sets of layers were dry, I then glued the two halves together. In between the 2 layers, I added the ornament hanger. Once that dried, I added glue to the edges of the tree and then the mica flakes.Supplies used:
--Pretty Pink Posh: Pine Trees die
--Vellum, cardstock
--floss/string
--liquid glue
--Ranger Distress Mica Flakes
I hope that everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving!!--Kim
