Although it really should be chocolate and die cutting. Welcome to Wednesday night AND Thursday noon with Sharon. We’re starting out with Sharon’s project for the evening and we’ll finish up with the NEW Lawn Fawn release which dropped today at noon.
First, I want to remind you about the Die Cut Club for 2023. This is the second year we are offering the club and many of our members have already signed up for next year. For $79.99 you get 15% off all your die purchases AND 10% off purchases of related products to the die, for example a stamp set or coordinating stencil or embossing folder. Once a month we also offer a special of 30% off your die. We normally exclude new releases EXCEPT to club members. The club runs from January to December. Payment for the club is by cash or check only. Sharon will be sending out an email soon with all the details
Many of you have made Explosion boxes from scratch. PhotoPlay now has a pre-made explosion box kit that Sharon shared in her video. The plan is to make one each for her granddaughters who are visiting over the holidays. Doodlebug papers and chocolate are the main ingredients for the outsides and insides of the boxes Briana’s is almost finished and we’ll see it a little later in the post. Sharon will be putting together Adalyn’s in this post.

Here is the packaging. We have more in the store and they are in the on-line store. The bases for three layers along with the lid are included in the kit. They are pre-cut and are white. Sharon said the kits are also available in black.

This is a sample Sharon did in an on-line class. You can see lots of embellishments and lots of patterned papers a bit busy for Sharon but what possibilities!

Starting with the box top or lid, Sharon used a combination of Scor-tape and a glue stick. As you can see scor-tape was applied to the tabs of the box top. Sharon removed the backing from the tape and then swiped a glue stick over the exposed sticky tabs. This enables you to have the ability to adjust your sticky surface if you don’t line things up perfectly. Scor-tape is a great adhesive but once it is attached it’s very hard to adjust. The slippery glue gives you a little freedom along with added sticking ability when you are adhering your projects.
Sharon cut her decorative pieces from Doodlebug holiday papers. The great thing about Doodlebug papers is that the colors of their papers coordinate over different collections. Sharon cut each mat piece so that there was a small white border for each piece.
The first layer had pockets you can make by folding the triangle piece over at the score line and adding score tape along the bottom edge.
Next Sharon added patterned papers to all the exposed sides including the back of each flap. Because you are using coordinated papers you may want to map out your placement to create a pleasing quilt like look.
The next layer will form a pocket on three sides. For a simple pocket just add your adhesive to the side and the bottom of the notched piece and fold on the score line. However, if you want to make your pocket more expansive so you can add a thicker candy or treat the kit includes spacers that you can add to the side of the notched piece allowing you to fit a thicker item in the pocket.
You can use the notch to copy the placement on your mat piece and then either fussy cut or use a 1”circle punch to cut a notch out of your mat.
Sharon then flipped her layer over and added paper to the back side of the pockets.
The last layer is also a diagonal pocket design. Follow the same gluing instructions for the front and the back. To finish your box add adhesive to the backside square of the middle and top layer then line them up directly over the bottom layer and adhere. Finish by adding patterned mats to any exposed white surfaces.
Sharon fussy cut many of the images in the cut-apart sheets to embellish the layers.
This cut-apart also has holiday phrases you can use to embellish your box pages.
There are also tags in the cut-a parts that you can write little messages on.
Here is Briana’s box which Sharon assembled earlier. She added one of the snowflakes like the ones that Mark would hang from the ceiling at the store, remember those?
Just lift the lid and all the flaps fall down revealing lots of surprises and places to add photos of the holiday.
Here is Briana’s box with her favorite chocolates in several of the pockets and Santa in the middle. You can see one of the tags peaking up on the left.
Here Briana’s box is all pulled up. It just needs the box top, snowflake and ribbon. Sharon will be adding little notes and a gift card or two. Both girls love Stickles and glitter! Sharon plans on getting glittery with both girls as she helps them embellish each of their boxes during some ‘Crafting time with Grandma Sharon’ while they are visiting for the holidays. Briana has never seen live snow in person and is very excited. She is also well prepared with ‘boots and everything’!
Sharon did a second video on Thursday as soon as Lawn Fawn’s new release was available for purchase. LF has been releasing samples all this past week on their blog to get you in the Valentines mood early… I know.π
Wood You be Mine? - stamp and die
Heart Garland Backdrop - it comes in landscape and portrait orientations.
So Dam Much - stamp and die
You’re the Zest! - stamp and die
Love Ya! - cut twice in two colors to get the outline detail. Bonus, you have the negatives to make a secon card!
I believe this is Heart Garden Border.
Lawn Fawn is also getting into the hot foil plate business. This is a great wood grain background that could go with so many things.
They also came out with this wonderfully detailed log cabin die. Sharon left it at the store but this and all the items from this release are in the on-line store on the website.
A double layered stencil of falling hearts. Use singly or together to create a cascade of hearts.
Simple Celebrate Hearts
Lastly for Lawn Fawn - Washi Tape, Hedgehogs, Happy Hearts and String of Hearts.
For todays funny a little incentive to get all that wrapping done…
I will be back after Saturday’s video with Mona. I’ve got wrapping on my to-do list for this weekend. Maybe I’ll make up a batch of my sister-in-law’s homemade Bailey’s to help me get the job done. As always keep warm, get your flu shot if you haven’t already and above all Stay Safe.π
P.S.- GO BILLS!
